Provided that they produce an adequate medical insurance (generally Form E111 or E128) and have sufficient amount of money at their disposal, these citizens are permitted to stay in Portugal. Non-EU citizens may require a student VISA. Students from non-EU countries should contact the Portuguese representative authorities in their home countries to enquire about current visa regulations Please contact the Portuguese Consulate in your country of origin for confirmation.. If there is no Portuguese Consulate in your country of origin, please contact the consulate of any Schengen country. Wherever possible, contact the Norwegian or Spanish consulate as they are part of the ERASMUS MUNDUS consortium. Procedures and requirements for applying for a student visa vary from country to country, and inevitably they are more complex and demanding in some countries than others.
