So here it is the card I chose to buy: a Zoom Air 4100, it's a prismII based card that is
supported by the wlan-ng prism2_cs module.Mandrake 8.1 and Debian woody don't respond to it because i don't have installed the PCMCIA package but in Suse 7.3 and during Mandrake 8.2 install the card is detected but with the not so complete wvlan_cs module. After that i have to try these nice packages: airsnort kismet wellenreiter Drive safely. 24-03-2002 In Mandrake 8.2 the default kernel comes with prism2 pci plx and usb already compile in 3rdparty kernel modules but to use my Zoom Air 4100 i have to do the following: get pcmcia-cs-3.1.33 get wlan-ng 1.1.13 compiled pcmcia-cs doing make config and then make all compiled wlan-ng doing make config and make all and then make install now in dmesg wlan0 shows up. ifconfig wlan0 192.168.0.2 works ok. 1-5-2002 Bougth a ZoomAir 4105 If you want info about getting it to work go to seattlewireless |
