Looking for models, literature, bathymetry or environmental data?
in the following list you can find some sites and documents that might be of interest:
- Ocean Acoustics Library: models, manuals and data.
- Ocean-acoustic propagation models: a good introduction to acoustic models.
- ETOPO: world bathymetry (in netcdf and KMZ format).
- World Ocean Atlas - NODC Climatological data:
select the data that you need (including Levitus data).
- GEBCO: General Bathymetric charts of the oceans
- National Data Buoy Center (NDBC): data of moored wave buoys
(air temperature, wind speed, wind direction, etc.).
- Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS): the name says it all.
- Coriolis: operational oceanography (french site).
- Global Ocean Data Assimilation Experiment (GODAE):
descriptions of the temperature, salinity and velocity structures of the ocean.
- Generic Mapping Tools (GMT): need to draw a map?
GMT can do it for you (and much more!), and best of all it is free!
- NOAA Wavewatch:
a model for the generation of sea surface waves.
- Ocean Data Viewer:
multiplatform software for the interactive exploration,
analysis and visualization of oceanographic and other geo-referenced profile or sequence data.
- Webportal of the European Acoustics Association:
news, events, job offers, etc..
- HOPS: Harvard Ocean Prediction System.
- ROMS: Regional Ocean Modeling System.
- ROMS forum.
