MANUEL AFONSO-DIAS (Coordinator), Lic., PhD. Assistant Professor (Professor Auxiliar) at the University of Algarve. He is a Fisheries Biologist with main interests in fisheries biology and stock assessment, particularly of crustacean species. Since 1992 he is a member of the ICES Nephrops Study and Working Groups.

M. Afonso-Dias has been involved in several national and international research projects. He was the scientific co-ordinator of a previous research project in support of the Common Fishery Police: "Analysis of the Iberian South Atlantic Artisanal Fishery: Fleet Components, Specific Effort and Sampling Design (Study Contract DG XIV/C/96-066)".

JOANA SIMÕES (Scientist), Lic. MSc. Geographical Information System (GIS) expert. She is a Geographer with main interests in GIS. At the present, she is preparing a PhD at Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis, University Colledge of London, United Kingdom.

Joana Simões was involved in a European project on the "Dynamic of cephalopod resources: patterns of genetic and environmental variations (CEPHVAR)" (UE FAIR - CT96 - 1520), at IPIMAR, the Portuguese Fisheries Research Institute. She was responsible for the design and implementation of a GIS for the study of Cephalopods in Portuguese waters.

CARLOS PINTO (Scientist), Lic. Computer programming expert with main interests in database design and computer programming, particularly for Internet. At the present, he is attending a MSc Course on Artificial Inteligence at Engeneering Faculty of the University of Porto, Portugal.

PEDRO SOUSA (Scientist) Lic. MSc. He is a Fisheries Biologist with main interests in statistical data analysis and fish stock assessment. 

Pedro Sousa was previously involved, at the University of Algarve, in two EC research projects namely "Improvement of the definition of species-specific effort in the Spanish multi-species trawl fishery of the Gulf of Cadiz " (Study Contract DG XIV/C/96-026) and "Analysis of the Iberian South Atlantic Artisanal Fishery: Fleet Components, Specific Effort and Sampling Design. (Study contract DG XIV/C/96-066)".

CARLOS PALMA (Scientist) Lic. He is a Fisheries Biologist with main interests in fish stock assessment  and development of Fisheries Database Systems. At the present he has a permanent position at ICATT has a Biostatistics expert.

Carlos Palma was previously involved, at the University of Algarve, in two EC research projects namely "Improvement of the definition of species-specific effort in the Spanish multi-species trawl fishery of the Gulf of Cadiz " (Study Contract DG XIV/C/96-026) and "Analysis of the Iberian South Atlantic Artisanal Fishery: Fleet Components, Specific Effort and Sampling Design. ANA CARVALHO (Technician) is a finalist student in Marine Biology and Fisheries at the University of Algarve. Between October 1998 and March 2000 she was involved in the UAlg project on Traditional Fishing Gears of the Guadiana River.

RODRIGO SANTOS (Technician) is a finalist student in Marine Biology and Fisheries at the University of Algarve.
