Professor João Rodrigues graduated in Electrical Engineering in 1993 from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, Portugal, he got is M.Sc. in Computer Systems Engineering in 1998 and Ph.D. Electronics and Computer Engineering in 2008 from University of Algarve, Portugal.  He is Adjoint Professor at Instituto Superior de Engenharia in the University of the Algarve (UALg), where he lectures Computer Science and Computer Vision disciplines since 1994. He joined the Vision Laboratory-UAlg in 1996 and from 1998 also the Institute for Systems and Robotics (ISR/IST-Lisbon). He participate in 7 scientific projects, and he is author more than 50 scientific publications. He's major research interests lies on Human Vision: gist, visual context, attention, figure-ground, categorization and recognition.
