I have a Ph.D. in Electric and Computers Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico, Technical University of Lisbon and work as an Adjunct Professor, in several degrees and courses of the Electrical Engineering Department, Instituto Superior de Engenharia, University of Algarve.

Broadly, my main academic interests concern Communication Networks and Telecommunications.

My research focus on several topics of wired and wireless Internet Protocol Television (IPTV), including transmission of compressed Two-dimensional (2D) and Three-dimensional (3D) video, Subjective Quality Assessment, Quality Assurance Solutions in Video Transmission, Scalable Video Multicast over Wireless ad hoc Networks and Peer-to-Peer Video Trasmission.

Since 2002, I've been a researcher of the Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores - Investigação e Desenvolvimento (INESC-ID) in Lisbon, participating in some European projects of the Communication Networks and Mobility research unit.
