Short biography
Degree in
Physics (Optics and
Electronics) at From
October 1991 to September 1992, I was with Universidade Lusíada,
Famalicão, From
1992-1995, I was with INESC Optoelectronics Centre, Master
in Optoelectronics and Lasers in February 1995; thesis on wavelength division
multiplexing integrated optical devices. From
1995 to 1999, I was with the Department of Physics of University of
Porto and with the Department
of Electronics and Electrical Engineering of University of Glasgow,
Scotland, as a Ph.D. student in cotutelle, working on the optoelectronic
properties of resonant tunnelling diodes. The technology
developed was licensed to Essient Photonics Ltd, a spin-out
from Glasgow University, launched in 2002. Presently,
I am a member of the Physics Department of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology
at the University of the Algarve.
Current research
interests: -
Design and characterization of electronic and optoelectronic devices
incorporating low dimensional quantum structures. -
Optoelectronic integrated circuits for telecommunication. -
Nonlinear dynamics of electronic and optoelectronic devices and
circuits for communications based on chaos.
