The lab's research activities are focused in five major lines:

- in vitro mass propagation of plant species with economic and pharmacological interest

- use of biotechnological approaches towards the germplasm preservation of endangered plant species

- plant response to abiotic stress and study of tolerance mechanisms

- structural elucidation of bioactive plant extract components using hyphenated analytical techniques

- test plant extracts against biological targets to discover lead compounds relevant in the research of human diseases
